About me

I’m Tahryn — a Perinatal Support Specialist. I help families through pregnancy, birth, and the first year with evidence-based, judgment-free support.

I’ve always been fascinated by how birth and postpartum change us — as people, partners, and families.

I thought I knew what to expect… and then I had my baby.

Hello information overload, navigating sleepless nights and a constant tug-of-war between instincts and outside pressures while just wanting to do what is best for your baby and your family.

Once I learned how to balance research and surrender everything got a lot easier and more joyful, but getting there was a process.

That experience led me to train as a birth & postpartum doula and become certified as a pediatric sleep & development practitioner. I’ve always loved understanding the nuances behind things, and now I get to share that knowledge in a way that helps parents feel informed and confident in their choices from day one

Supporting families through the messy, magical journey into parenthood lights me up. My approach is part practical know-how, part creative troubleshooting, and part sister-style support — so you feel resourced, confident, and free to actually enjoy this season.

Helping you feel

Frequently asked questions

  • Birth Doula Support

Continuous care for one of life’s biggest transitions.

Having a doula isn’t about replacing your partner or your provider — it’s about adding someone to your team whose only job is to support you. A doula offers emotional reassurance, physical comfort measures, and evidence-based information throughout pregnancy and birth.

Research shows the impact is real:

    • People who have continuous support during labor are more likely to have shorter labors and less need for interventions like Pitocin or forceps.

    • They’re 39% less likely to need a C-section and 15% more likely to have a spontaneous vaginal birth(Cochrane Review, 2017).

    • Families also report feeling more positive about their birth experience, no matter how it unfolds.

    In practice, that looks like:

    • Helping you prepare with stretches, positions, and information resources.

    • Being on-call for you in the weeks surrounding your due date.

    • Supporting you (and your partner) through every contraction — comfort measures and steady encouragement.

    • Asking clarifying questions or helping you advocate with your care team, so your voice is centered.

    • Staying with you until you’re settled, fed, and bonding with your new baby.

  • Postpartum Doula Support

Because thriving in the fourth trimester matters just as much as the birth itself.

The first weeks after birth are tender, messy, and transformative. A postpartum doula provides emotional support, practical help, and evidence-based guidance so you don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

    Research backs it up:

    • Parents who receive postpartum doula support report lower rates of anxiety and postpartum depression (Gruber et al., 2013).

    • Studies also show doula care improves breastfeeding initiation and continuation (Kozhimannil et al., 2016).

    • Families consistently describe feeling more confident and less overwhelmed when a doula is by their side.

What that looks like in practice:

    • Newborn care basics: feeding support, soothing techniques, and reading baby’s cues.

    • Practical help with daily rhythms — light meals, tidying, pet care, or holding the baby so you can nap or shower.

    • Help creating family routines that empower you to feel confident and take care of yourself and baby

    • Emotional support: someone who listens without judgment and reassures you that what you’re experiencing is normal.

    • Connecting you to trusted resources (lactation, pelvic floor PT, support groups) when extra care is needed.

  • Sleep & Development Support

Because better rest doesn’t have to mean ignoring your instincts.

Sleep in the first year is not just about bedtime routines and strict schedules, it’s about your baby’s rapidly changing brain and body. As a pediatric sleep and development practitioner, I help you understand what’s biologically normal, what’s developmentally appropriate, and where small shifts can make life easier for the whole family.

    The research is clear:

    • Responsive caregiving — attending to your baby’s cues — is linked to secure attachment, lower infant distress, and better long-term regulation (Middlemiss, 2017; Sadeh et al., 2010).

    • When families receive education about infant sleep biology, they feel less anxiety, more competence, and greater satisfaction in their role as parents (St James-Roberts et al., 2006).

    • Families who receive responsive, individualized sleep guidance report less stress and greater confidence, compared to those relying on generic advice (Mindell et al., 2017).

    In practice, that looks like:

    • Reading your baby’s cues and matching them to realistic rhythms.

    • Adjusting the sleep environment to support safety and smoother stretches.

    • Offering gentle tools for resettling and soothing that respect attachment and development.

    • Troubleshooting naps, nights, and regressions with a plan that works for your family’s values.

    • Supporting you through transitions like rolling, teething, or returning to work.

  • I am a certified Pediatric Sleep and Development practitioner through Mother Nourish Nurture’s internationally accredited program and am a Dona trained (but not yet certified) birth and postpartum doula.

I have CPR and HIPPA certifications, and have completed the Dona cultural sensitivity trainings.

I also got to experience childbirth with a doula myself with the birth of my daughter in 2025.

  • I currently only except Kaiser (commercial plans only) for all doula work but am working to expand to Medicaid coverage as well.

No insurance currently covers sleep support

  • Yes! Working within the medical system can come with its own challenges and benefits, I believe beautiful births can happen anywhere and I want to help you have your dream birth in a hospital setting.

  • My practice is inclusive and affirming for everyone, I welcome you to share as much or as little as you want with me in order to help you feel comfortable in this process

Let’s chat about how I can best support your family!
