The Art of Arrival

Parenthood doesn’t have to feel like guesswork or survival mode.
It can feel like arrivalgrounded, supported, and aligned with your values.

Postpartum Planning

Thoughtful preparation for life after birth — grounded, realistic, and supportive.

Together we’ll focus on what the early weeks actually look like: newborn care, feeding, early sleep rhythms, recovery, division of labor, and building support systems that hold up in real life.

This work helps families feel prepared, resourced, and less alone as they enter postpartum.

Sleep + Development

Baby sleep can feel overwhelming, illusive, and shrouded in stress and controversy..

I help families understand what’s biologically normal for their baby, make sense of sleep patterns and changes, and create steady, responsive rhythms that support both rest and connection for their unique baby and family system — without guilt, fear, or rigid training methods.

About me

Becoming a parent is more than an event — it’s a profound arrival into a new season of life.

It can feel like everyone has an opinion, and social media and well meaning strangers are full of quick fixes and contradictory advice.

I’m Tahryn, your companion in this wild, transformative chapter. I believe what most families need is not more rules, but clarity, curiosity, and confidence in their own instincts.

The Art of Arrival exists to support parents who:

  • Are questioning traditional scripts (about sleep, feeding, or “doing it right”).

  • Value depth over hacks, and are open to learning about biology, attachment, and development.

  • Are seeking a guide who will translate evidence into everyday practices, without pressure or guilt.

My training is robust (birth + postpartum doula, lactation & childbirth education, pediatric sleep + development). But the heart of my work is this: I help you translate research, intuition, and nuance into daily practices so you feel resourced, steady, and aligned — not forced into a one-size-fits-all mold.

If you’ve ever thought: I don’t want to lose myself, but I want to show up fully for my baby, you’re in the right place.

Infant Sleep and Development Support

Sleep isn’t one-size-fits-all — it’s a developmental process. I help you understand what’s normal, create realistic rhythms, and find rest without guilt, tears, or rigid training.

You’ll get:

  • A plan tailored to your baby’s biology & temperament

  • Gentle, development-aware rhythms (not harsh “sleep training”)

  • Practical, flexible “shifts” rather than rigid routines

  • Ongoing support through transitions (rollovers, regressions, nap changes, developmental milestones)

In Person Doula Care

Limited availability — for families who have done a perinatal planning session and are looking for in depth continuous support

Those early weeks and months are tender and overwhelming. My postpartum support centers on:

  • Newborn care guidance & soothing support

  • Feeding support (feeding, latching, bottle/combination support)

  • Gentle sleep/awake rhythm support — aligned with development

  • Emotional & practical support for parent(s): rest, recovery, confidence building

  • Helping you find and connect with longer-term community or resource support

Birth support is offered only by inquiry, to returning or aligned clients, and is not the primary focus of The Art of Arrival.

    • Parents-to-be & new parents seeking realistic, values-aligned support

    • Families wanting to understand what's normal for infant development, sleep, feeding, and postpartum recovery

    • Medical or clinical treatment

    • “Guaranteed sleep solutions” or “training babies”

    • Overnight intensive care or night nursing (night support may be considered in the future; currently daytime only)

  • I am a certified Pediatric Sleep and Development practitioner through Mother Nourish Nurture’s internationally accredited program and a Dona trained birth and postpartum doula.

I have CPR and HIPPA certifications, and have completed the Dona cultural sensitivity trainings.

I was also lucky enough to experience childbirth with a doula myself with the birth of my daughter in 2025.

  • Sleep & Development Support

Because better rest doesn’t have to mean ignoring your instincts.

Sleep in the first year is not just about bedtime routines and strict schedules, it’s about your baby’s rapidly changing brain and body. As a pediatric sleep and development practitioner, I help you understand what’s biologically normal, what’s developmentally appropriate, and where small shifts can make life easier for the whole family.

    The research is clear:

    • Responsive caregiving — attending to your baby’s cues — is linked to secure attachment, lower infant distress, and better long-term regulation (Middlemiss, 2017; Sadeh et al., 2010).

    • When families receive education about infant sleep biology, they feel less anxiety, more competence, and greater satisfaction in their role as parents (St James-Roberts et al., 2006).

    • Families who receive responsive, individualized sleep guidance report less stress and greater confidence, compared to those relying on generic advice (Mindell et al., 2017).

    In practice, that looks like:

    • Reading your baby’s cues and matching them to realistic rhythms.

    • Adjusting the sleep environment to support safety and smoother stretches.

    • Offering gentle tools for resettling and soothing that respect attachment and development.

    • Troubleshooting naps, nights, and regressions with a plan that works for your family’s values.

    • Supporting you through transitions like rolling, teething, or returning to work.

  • Postpartum Doula Support

Because thriving in the fourth trimester matters just as much as the birth itself.

The first weeks after birth are tender, messy, and transformative. A postpartum doula provides emotional support, practical help, and evidence-based guidance so you don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

    Research backs it up:

    • Parents who receive postpartum doula support report lower rates of anxiety and postpartum depression (Gruber et al., 2013).

    • Studies also show doula care improves breastfeeding initiation and continuation (Kozhimannil et al., 2016).

    • Families consistently describe feeling more confident and less overwhelmed when a doula is by their side.

What that looks like in practice:

    • Newborn care basics: feeding support, soothing techniques, and reading baby’s cues.

    • Practical help with daily rhythms — light meals, tidying, pet care, or holding the baby so you can nap or shower.

    • Help creating family routines that empower you to feel confident and take care of yourself and baby

    • Emotional support: someone who listens without judgment and reassures you.

    • Connecting you to trusted resources (lactation, pelvic floor PT, support groups) when extra care is needed.

  • My practice is inclusive and affirming for everyone, I welcome you to share as much or as little as you want with me in order to help you feel comfortable in this process
